Part of our strategy is to try and minimize our youth’s involvement with the Youth Criminal Justice System (YCJS). We want our youth to not be targeted because of race, age, identity and have opportunities to make positive choice and change.
To do this, we are helping our youth to understand crime and criminal behaviour and how the YCJS works. Our goal is to prevent situations that may lead to youth becoming involved with the law. This process includes always having a consistent approach to anti-social behavior, developing good relationships with community partners like the police, school boards and the court. We also want to ensure that caregivers understand and support the ways we can work together to help our youth make good decisions.
